| In 1800s Hambutts Mynd was converted into the first Girls School in the Gloucester village of Painswick and then in latter years it was converted into a normal dwelling house which is now run as a renowned Bed and Breakfast by John and Elizabeth.
We situated up a side road and not in the centre of the bustling village. We are 200 yards from the main road, very quiet and just 5 minutes walk (2 blocks) from Painswick with its historic buildings and magnificent church grounds.
All bedrooms are en-suite and have a wonderful view over the valley and hills towards Stroud. Each room is centrally heated, its own colour television and in the Autumn and Winter all beds have electric blankets.
We do not allow smoking in the bedrooms but the lounge can be used for this purpose.
Painswick was predominantly a wool producing village and there are still a few of the old mills left, some of which are open to the public to view, but most have now been converted into dwelling houses.
There are many interesting places one can visit within easy reach. We are not far from the M4 and M5 motorways, Bath takes approximately 1 hour, Bristol about 1 hour, Gloucester is only 7 miles, Stroud 3 miles, Cheltenham 9 miles.
Some of the places of interest are: Gloucester Docks and Cathedral, Berkeley Castle, Bath Roman Baths, Tetbury Market, Cheltenham Spa Town and many local attractions, not to mention the wonderful walks in the beautiful part of the English countryside which is in the Queen of the Cotswolds. |
